Load Testing LSC has load tested the Collapsible Rescue Basket to 3,150 lbs (1,429 kg) without failure. This represents a 500% reliability factor when using the standard Working Load LimitThe maximum mass or force which a product is designed to support in general service when the pull is applied in-line. (WLL) of 600 lbs (272 kg) used for most helicopter hoist installations. Testing was accomplished by loading the interior of the basket with #,130 lbs of lead shot and suspending the basket by the lifting eye. No failure of any component occurred. The basket deformed along it's long axis at the in a downward direction to approximately 5" (12.7 cm). The upper rail also exhibited an outward bowing of approximately 3" (7.62 cm). The formed arc of the bail assemblies were significantly straightened in alignment with the high load as expected.
Component Testing Each individual lifting eye (one on each of two lifting bails) are proof-loaded to 2,000 lbs (907 kg) prior to assembly.
Environmental Testing The collapsible rescue basket has been proven in operational use to withstand the harshest of marine environments.
Flight Testing The U.S. Navy conducted flight tests and has approved the Collapsible Rescue Basket for use with U.S. Navy helicopters.
