Post-use inspection

Perform this inspection after the last deployment of the day. Documentation is not required but recommended.

Post-Use Inspection Procedures

Step 1: Remove all survival equipment from the pockets

Step 2: Rinse the harness and survival items with fresh water.

  1. Remove CO2 cartridge and rinse cartridge and inflation valve assembly interior with fresh water.

Step 3: Dry the survival items with paper towels.


Avoid eye and skin contact with corrosion preventive, fluid film. Avoid inhalation or ingestion. Use in a well-ventilated area. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling or exposure. Remove contaminated clothing immediately.

  1. Chest and leg bayonet fittings and buckles
  2. Talon II hook
  3. CO2 cartridge threads
  4. Any appropriate survival items in need of protection (knives, clips, etc.)

Step 5: Hang the harness on a wooden hanger until dry.

Step 6: Stow the survival items in the equipment pockets.

Step 7: Screw the CO2 cartridge into the inflation valve until it is fully seated, plus 1/4 turn.
