Build-Up Procedure

WARNING

Only patient restraint straps, P/N 140, from lifesaving systems are authorized for use during hoisting or lifting of patients with this device.

Step 1: Install the patient restraint straps as follows:

a. Starting from the head of the litter and working toward the bottom, install the patient restraining straps using a larkshead knot between the mesh liner and the 1/2-inch flat stock in the designated slots to prevent the straps from sliding on the 1/2-inch flat stock.

NOTE

The black restraining strap (chest strap) is installed with the female bayonet fitting on the left and the male bayonet fitting on the right. This is opposite of all the other straps. The gray, blue, red, and green straps shall have the female bayonet fitting on the right and the male on the left.

NOTE

Refer to the image above for references of right and left positions.

NOTE

When installing the female side of the black strap, ensure that the hook tape is facing outward.

b. Larkshead the black restraining strap (chest strap) with the female bayonet fitting located on the left side and the male bayonet fitting on the right side.

c. Larkshead the gray, blue, red, and green restraining straps with the female bayonet fittings located on the right side and the male bayonet fittings on the left side of litter. Once installed, the descending order will be gray, black, blue, red, and green.

Step 2: Install the flotation back pad kit as follows:

a. Carefully cut an X from the plastic netting to produce approximately a 1-inch square opening at each position marked on the image below.

b. Place the flotation back pad in the litter with the angled side toward the head section and the attachment straps down. Pass each attachment strap though the cut opening and around the 3/4-inch transverse members on the outboard side of the 3/4-inch skid tubing.

c. Close the buckles.

Step 3: Install the chest pads as follows:

a. Lay both chest pads in the litter with the labels facing up and toward the head of the litter, and with the attachment straps pointing outboard. The left side chest pad has pile tape on the under side of the main belt loop (Refer to image below).

b. To install the right chest pad, slide the male bayonet fitting of the black restraining strap through the belt loop on the front of the right chest pad.

c. Attach the right chest pad to the frame by passing the chest pad female buckle straps around the top tubing (inboard to outboard) at the positions shown on image below

NOTE

For proper alignment, ensure the lower chest pad strap is directly above the blue patient restraint strap.

d. Pull the upper and lower right chest pad straps around the top tubing and slide the female buckle up through the loop on the side of the pad. Secure it to the chest pad male attachment buckle.

e. To install the left chest pad, slide the female bayonet fitting through the main belt loop. Ensure that the hook tape on the topside of the strap engages with the pile tape on the underside of main belt loop.

f. Attach the left chest pad to the frame by passing the chest pad female buckle straps around the top tubing (inboard to outboard) at the positions shown on the image above.

NOTE

For proper alignment, ensure the lower chest pad strap is directly above the blue patient restraint strap.

g. Pull the upper and lower left chest pad straps around the top tubing. Slide the female buckle up through the loop on the side of the pad, and secure it to the chest pad male attachment buckle.

4. Install the flotation half-logs as follows.

a. Open all the buckles on the half logs. Position the half-logs with the flat sides against the frame with the female plastic buckles pointing down.

b. Lace the male ends of each attachment strap up between the mesh liner and the 1/2-inch flat bar around the top tubes at the proper frame positions . Pull the straps up and around outside edge of each log.

WARNING

Ensure that both sides of the buckle have latched.

NOTE

When installed properly, the flotation log straps fit very tightly.

c. Close the flotation log strap buckles completely.

d. Position the buckles on the bottom side of each flotation log to ensure low profile.
