HOISTING SLING REPLACEMENT

Hoisting Sling Kit, P/N 193-A or 190-A depending on unit policies
Step 1: Remove the defective hoisting sling as follows:
a. Unbuckle the flotation half-log straps from both sides of the litter (DO NOT REMOVE THEM).
b. Cut and discard the existing hoist sling cables at the litter end or by removing the gated snaphooks at the litter end.
Step 2: Install the hoisting sling assembly as follows:
The only authorized replacement hoisting sling is the Lifesaving Systems Corp. Hoisting slings, P/N 190-A or 193-A
a. Lay the new hoisting sling assembly into the bed of the litter with the two short cables toward the head of the litter and the two long cables toward the foot of the litter.
b. Open the gated snaphooks (4 each). Slide the heat shrink sleeves onto the top of the hook, allowing enough room to close the gate.
c. Install the (2 each) gated snaphooks of the short cable legs onto the top tubing in the designated slots directly above the larkshead knot of the gray restraint straps, with the gates facing outboard.
d. Install the (2 each) gated snaphooks of the long cable legs onto the top tubing above the green restraint straps, with the gates facing outboard.
e. Hand-tighten the locking knurled knobs (4 each) until cotter pin holes align.
f. Install the cotter pins (4 each) through the aligned holes and bend the cotter pin ends back around the knurled knob.

g. Slide the heat shrink sleeves on each gated hook over the gate opening knurled knob and the cotter pin.
h. Heat shrink the sleeves with a hot air gun until they conform to the shape of the knurled knob and cotter pin.
i. Refasten the flotation half-log buckles together on both sides of the litter.
Step 3: Record maintenance action by completing appropriate sign-off, adding pertinent remarks.
