A. INSPECTION

NOTE

This inspection is required on original issue, when received from supply, or when accepted from another unit for permanent custody.

  1. Perform all steps in Item 4.

NOTE

Completing the sign-off for Item 2 automatically completes the sign-offs for Item 3 and Item 4.

A. INSPECTION

  1. Perform Inspection / Post Usage
    1. If strop was immersed in water, rinse with fresh water until all traces of salt or other contamination are removed.

WARNING

If any signs of cracking or damage are found on any hardware, remove the quick strop from service.

    1. Inspect hardware for cracks, damage, and corrosion.
    2. Check friction slide for ease of operation.

WARNING

There are no repairs authorized to the load bearing webbing or webbing confluence point stitches.

NOTE

Repairs of the quick strop are limited to replacement of pile tape, red indicator webbing, and patching of holes or restitching seams on cushion fabric.

    1. Ensure red web strap V-ring will slide through friction slide without restriction. If any restriction occurs, remove the quick strop from service.
    2. Examine pile strap, cushion fabric, and red webbing indicator for excessive wear, fraying, or broken stitching.

WARNING

There are no repairs authorized to the load bearing webbing or webbing confluence point stitches.

    1. Inspect load bearing webbing and crotch safety strap for wear, fraying, and broken stitches.
    2. Stow crotch safety strap.
    3. Record maintenance action by completing appropriate sign-off, adding pertinent remarks. If quick strop is damaged beyond acceptable repair parameters, remove the stop from service.

3. Quick Strop Load Test

TOOLS / TEST EQUIPMENT:

Hoist, rated greater than 500 pounds

A. LOAD TEST

  1. Perform Load Test.
    1. Connect one V-ring from quick strop to hook on hoist.
    2. Connect 500-pound load to opposite V-ring.
    3. Hoist the quick strop 3 inches off the deck and allow to hang for 15 minutes.
    4. While suspended, inspect the quick strop hardware for cracks. Inspect the load bearing webbing for broken stitches.

  1. Perform all steps in Item 2

  1. Record maintenance action by completing appropriate signoff, adding pertinent remarks. If quick strop is damaged beyond acceptable repair parameters, remove the strop from service.
